The New Jersey Caregiver Task Force was created in 2018. The purpose of the Task Force is to determine the availability of caregiver support services in the State, and provide recommendations for the improvement and expansion of such services.
Family caregivers play a vital role in the lives of many New Jerseyans including older adults and individuals with mental illness, disabilities, chronic health conditions, cognitive or behavioral health challenges, or intellectual and developmental disabilities.
The NJ Caregiver Task Force has been asked to do three things:
- Conduct a Survey: Identify and survey caregivers in the state to develop an aggregate summary of caregivers characteristics
- Hold Listening Sessions: Solicit and receive testimony from caregivers on their experiences
- Compile Resources: Identify and compile an inventory of existing state policies, resources and programs that are available to support or assist caregivers.
Listening Sessions
In order to appropriately identify existing State policies, resources and programs available to support and assist caregivers, as well as draft recommendations provided to the NJ legislature to improve, enhance and expand family caregiving services, the NJ Caregiver Task Force will be holding a series of Listening Sessions in March 2021.
- The sessions will be held March 6th (from 10 am to 1 pm), March 10th (noon to 3 pm), and March 10th (5-8 pm).
- The sessions will be livestreamed to the NJ Department of Human Services’ YouTube.
- To register to testify or provide written testimony, click on com/r/CaregiverTestimony. Registration will be closed two days before each session.
- Testimony is limited to 5 minutes. Once registered, you will be given a one-hour time period in which you will be called upon to speak.
- The NJ Caregiver Task Force is also accepting testimony via physical mail, fax, e-mail or submitted via the registration survey.
